UIL ACADEMICS:  Any student who did not attend the meeting on Friday MUST see Mr. Comer today.  It is imperative that you see him if you are planning on going to A&M Consolidated.  Important information will be given to you.

Congratulations to the following Key Club members for making the “Top 10”.  They will be attending the District Convention in April:  Brett L, Macy S, Valarie N, Kirstie K, Spencer S, Kirsty W, Melody J, Jonathan M, Emily Y and Breah D.  There will be a meeting to discuss convention on Monday, Feb. 18 at 3:15 in Mrs. Singleton’s room.  Please attend.

Make it your first priority to be at First Priority!!!  Tuesday mornings at 7:00 a.m. in the Choir Room.  Breakfast is provided!!!  You will be glad you made the effort to be there.

Girls interested in participating in the Relay for Life Scholarship Pageant on Saturday, March 29th can pick up an application on the wall outside the library.

Seniors:  There is a new scholarship available in the counselors’ office given by the Gulf Coast Sertoma Club in the amount of $500.
The criteria is that you must attend a college or university in the state of Texas, be a good student, have good citizenship, good grades, involved in school & community activities and be of high moral character, be in top 25% of graduating class, student and family would benefit receiving financial aid that has not been met by other funding sources. Deadline to return to counselor:  March 5, 2008

Seniors:  The Beaumont A & M Club, through the Southeast Texas A & M Foundation, is awarding two $8,000 scholarships and several Opportunity Award Scholarships ranging from $1,500 or $2,000 to Texas A & M University.  Scholarship applications will be distributed at the February 26th meeting of the Beaumont A & M Club.  Students or their immediate family must attend this meeting to receive their scholarship application.  Please pick up more information in the counselors’ office if you are interested in attending the meeting.

Students 16+ years:  DuPont Goodrich Federal Credit Union is offering high school students a new opportunity.  They are forming a Youth Advisory Council that will offer qualified students a chance to learn about financial service industry, business and public relations plus be guaranteed a scholarship based on the number of terms they complete.  A one-year term earns $500 and a two-year term will earn $1,000. Applications are available in the counselors’ office and are due by February 25, 2008 to the credit union.

HOSA is asking girls to bring gently used prom dresses, shoes, jewelry and make-up to room C103 through February 29th.

Attention 10th Graders:  Are you interested in becoming a health care professional?  Give HOSA a shot.  Meet in room C103 at 7:30 am on Friday, February 22, 2008 for an informational meeting and to sign up for your interview.

Key Club is hosting a book drive that will run through Thursday, February 28th.  Please bring books suitable for children ages 1-12 to Mrs. Singleton’s room C 109.

Seniors:  Please provide the counselors’ office with any scholarship you accept or are offered, or any workshop you attended, as soon as possible.  This information will be needed for the awards program in May.  The deadline to provide this information will be April 25, 2008.

Twirp Week has begun.  Events are as follows:  Feb 18th – Board games & Grilling; Feb 19th – Baseball & Breakfast food; and Feb 20th – Sports Connection & Dessert.

All Students interested in entering the 2008 Coca-Cola “Share the Dream” Essay Contest may pick up information and application forms in the counselors’ office.  Deadline for submission of essays is no later than March 5, 2008.   Prizes range from $500-$2500 and personal computers.
