There will be a Thespian Troupe meeting Thursday at 7 a.m. in the black box.

There will be a short Criminal Justice Club meeting Wednesday, February 20th immediately after school in room C102.

Faculty and students are invited to attend the Indianettes’ dress rehearsal for competition.  The rehearsal will begin at 3:30 Thursday, Feb. 21, in the competition gym.

Congratulations to the girl’s varsity track team for placing 6th out of 16 teams at the Bulldog Relays.  The distance medley team of Natalie H, Brittany C, Mailaika T and Anna H finished in 3rd place;  The 4X200 relay team of Kileen F, Brittany C, Jenna S, and Hayley E finished 5th; other events were:  Anna H – 6th triple jump; Hayley E -4th long jump; Jenna S -6th long jump; Kileen F -3rd 100 meter dash; Jenna S – 4th 200 meter dash; and Mailaika T – 1st 400 meter dash and 3rd 800 meter run.

All students interested in volunteering for MDA Summer Camp may pick up information in the counselors’ office.  The 2008 Muscular Dystrophy Association Summer Camp Program is planning an exciting camp and needs students 16 years old or older as volunteers.  MDA Summer Camp is a one-week resident camp where student’s help is extremely needed to assist with the campers needs.  MDA pays for the transportation, food and lodging for both campers and volunteers.  The camp will be held June 8 – June 14 at “Camp for All” in Burton, TX.  Pick up more information in the counselors’ office if you are interested.

Girls interested in participating in the Relay for Life Scholarship Pageant on Saturday, March 29th can pick up an application in the display case on the wall outside the library.

Seniors:  There is a new scholarship available in the counselors’ office given by the Gulf Coast Sertoma Club in the amount of $500. Deadline to return to counselor:  March 5, 2008

Seniors:  The Beaumont A & M Club, through the Southeast Texas A & M Foundation, is awarding two $8,000 scholarships and several Opportunity Award Scholarships ranging from $1,500 or $2,000 to Texas A & M University.  Scholarship applications will be distributed at the February 26th meeting of the Beaumont A & M Club.  Students or their immediate family must attend this meeting to receive their scholarship application.  Please pick up more information in the counselors’ office if you are interested in attending the meeting.

Students 16+ years:  DuPont Goodrich Federal Credit Union is offering high school students a new opportunity.  Applications are available in the counselors’ office and are due by February 25, 2008 to the credit union.

HOSA is asking girls to bring gently used prom dresses, shoes, jewelry and make-up to room C103 through February 29th.

Attention 10th Graders:  Are you interested in becoming a health care professional?  Give HOSA a shot.  Meet in room C103 at 7:30 am on Friday, February 22, 2008 for an informational meeting and to sign up for your interview.

Key Club is hosting a book drive that will run through Thursday, February 28th.  Please bring books suitable for children ages 1-12 to Mrs. Singleton’s room C 109.

Seniors:  Please provide the counselors’ office with any scholarship you accept or are offered, or any workshop you attended, as soon as possible.  This information will be needed for the awards program in May.  The deadline to provide this information will be April 25, 2008.

Twirp Week has begun.  Events are as follows:  Feb 19th – Baseball & Breakfast food; and Feb 20th – Sports Connection & Dessert.

All Students interested in entering the 2008 Coca-Cola “Share the Dream” Essay Contest may pick up information and application forms in the counselors’ office.  Deadline for submission of essays is no later than March 5, 2008.   Prizes range from $500-$2500 and personal computers.

The Powerlifting team won the Bridge City Meet – Josh C – 1st place, Outstanding lifter, and broke the state record in bench press with 425 pounds; Josh W, Sephen S, Jason M, Blake B, and Caleb H – 1st place; Kevin A and Nick B – 3rd place; Brett P- 4th place; Dillon H, Jeremy S, Greg L, and Tyler W – 5th place. 

Boys Track – placed 3rd out of 17 teams at the Bulldog Relays on Friday;

Girls Tennis – Courtney G won 1st place in the Kelly Tennis Tournament. Carla S advanced to the semi finals and Cami B advanced to the quarter finals.
