This is a reminder that the Key Club members will have a service scavenger hunt Saturday at 3 p.m. Please meet in the stadium parking lot. You may sign up on the sheet on Mrs. Singleton’s door.

Student Council committees will meet Monday night at 6:30 p.m. in the LGI. Full Council meets at 7:00.
There will be a BPA (Business Professionals of America) meeting in Room C-113 (Ms. Amsden’s room) on Monday, October 1 at 7:00 a.m. Anyone interested in joining is welcome to come join us. Refreshments will be served.
Student Council is sponsoring a Pride and Patriotism contest for all high school students. There are two ways to enter the contest. You may type an essay entitled “Why I Am an American Patriot” in 500 words or less, and must include a cover sheet with your name, grade, and school, or you may draw a poster of standard size, with original work, and no computer generated entries. The deadline to enter is Friday, October 19th. All entries must be turned into Mrs. Yosko in room B 113. Local prizes are 1st place $25; 2nd place $20; and 3red place $15. Both the 1st place essay and poster will move onto the district contest. District prizes are 1st place $75; 2nd place $50; and 3rd place $25. The Student Council’s Energy Committee is collecting old, used prescription eyeglasses for the Lion’s Club. Please bring glasses to the main office, the cafeteria, or Mrs. Yosko’s room B 113 between October 1st and October 26th.
There is still time to sign up for UIL Academics. If interested, please stop by room A-213.
There will be a UIL Math & Science Meeting Monday morning at 7:15 a.m. in Room A-213. All students participating in Number Sense, Calculator Applications, Mathematics, Science, and Computer Science are asked to attend. Meet information will be given out. Please be on time.
All students in grades 9 – 12 and their parents are invited to attend a Service Academy Information Session on Saturday, September 29 in Baytown. Representatives from the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy and U.S. Naval Academy will give briefings on the educational and military service opportunities available at each academy. You may pick up more information in the counseling office.
There will be free face painting in the cafeteria during lunches today. Come by and let us help you show that Indian Spirit!
Juniors: The PSAT test will be given at PN-G on Saturday, October 20th. All juniors taking this test will be competing for National Merit Scholars Awards for 2008-09. Registration for juniors will begin today. Sophomores may register beginning Monday, October 8th. The last day to register will be Friday, October 12th. Space is limited to about 200 students. You may register in the counselors’ office and the cost is $16.00 – cash only. No checks will be accepted. Any sophomores planning to take AP U.S. History next year should take this test.
Any student interested in the Voice of Democracy Competition may pick up applications in the counselors’ office. Freshman through seniors may compete in this essay competition. The first place winner will receive $500, and the second place winner will receive $300. The deadline for the application, essay and oral speech is October 22nd.
Attention seniors!! The SAT will be given on Saturday, October 6th, on our campus. You must register through Collegeboard in order to take the test. Register online at www.collegeboard.com or come by the counseling office for a registration packet. Late registration will cost $65.
