Congratulations to the following volleyball players for their selection to the All District Team: Honorable mention: Stephanie B; 2 nd team: Brandi G; 1 st team honors: Chelsea H, Kourtney B, and Sami Jo W. Special recognition goes to the Most Valuable Player of the District: Kayla P!!!

There will be a short FCCLA meeting after school on Thursday, November 15th in room A-119.

This Friday, we are playing the Galena Park Yellow Jackets for our first playoff match. The spirit contest this week is “JAR THE JACKETS”. Students may purchase a jacket from any varsity cheerleaders or from Mrs. Wolfe in room A 142 for 25 cents each. Students will take their jacket and deposit them in the containers for their class located at the front of the cafeteria. Each day the jackets will be cleared form the containers and placed in the giant jars located outside of A 142. The class filling their jar the fullest by Friday afternoon will be declared the winner.

The Speech and Debate team competed this past weekend in Boling , TX against 14 teams. We had a great showing with everyone winning at least one round of debate. The team was led by Chad S who placed second in both senior level persuasive speaking and L-D Debate and Crystal D who placed third in novice L-D debate. The team consisted of Chad S, Micah B, Benjamin H, Christia M, Crystal D, and Katherine L. Cheer us on in our next tournament at Nederland .

Student Council members are reminded to stop by B113 and sign up for all November and December events.  There are many opportunities for school and community service points.   Galveston Mid-Winter Retreat is coming up in January. Now is the time to get all the points needed to be one of the 15 students chosen to attend this workshop.  

Juniors and Seniors: Lamar State College-Port Arthur will be hosting the Mid/South County College Night at the Carl Parker Multi-Purpose Building 1800 Lakeshore Drive on Tuesday, December 4 from 6:00pm -8:00pm

Any student who is interested in trying out for the boy's or girl's soccer team needs to come by room A 115 to pick up a physical form. Tryouts begin November 26 th at 3:15 p.m. Girls may see Coach Bates or Coach Werkheiser.

Playoff t-shirts are available at Mrs. Miller's desk. $15 – short sleeve; $18 long sleeve

National Honor Society will be hosting its annual blood drive on November 27 th from 1:30 – 5 p.m. in the HOSA room in loving memory of our friend Karmen Dupuis. Come out and support a life-sharing event.

Key Club officer meeting will be tonight at 6 p.m. right before our regular club meeting at 7 p.m.. Members are reminded to turn in your UNICEF boxes by tonight's meeting. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Singleton

Seniors: you should have received a senior newsletter in your government class. If you did not get one, or you do not take Government, you may pick up a copy in the counselor's office. There is important information about scholarships, deadlines, college open house dates and SAT score report information.

Sophomores: the service organization, Kiwanis Club has 20 scholarships of $600 each available to sophomores in Texas and Oklahoma . If you are interested in applying for this scholarship, you may pick up the application in the counselor's office. The deadline to return the application is Friday, November 16 th .
