The Student Council annual Christmas party will be held Monday, December 17, beginning at 6:30.  All members are asked to bring a $5.00 gift to exchange and sign up in B113 to bring some type of snack, and get address details.

All Student Council teacher and skills pals are reminded to meet in B113 Friday, December 14, at 7:15 a.m. to make ornaments for your pals. Student and teacher secret pals are reminded about the Christmas revealing party which will be held Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 7:15 a.m. in B113.  The skill pal party will be held Wednesday, December 19, at 7:15 a.m. in the Skills room.  All pal students are reminded to stop by B113 and sign up to bring snacks for the parties.

Student Council members are reminded that many opportunities for community service are available. Stop by B113 for more details.

Congratulations to the following students for making the TMEA All-Region Band: Melody J, Courtney C, Hailey M, Kelcee C, Katie J, Jenna J, Tori C, Valarie N, Jaclyn M, Danielle W, Mason H, Andrew T, Casey D, Brett L, and Travis G.  The following students also made the band and advanced to the Area round on January 5 th : Lacey L, David L, Alex M, Kaylynn T, Kindell H, and Dillon M.   The Indian band had 21 students make the All-Region band – the most by far in recent history.  Congratulations to these students!

Balfour will be in the cafeteria tomorrow to deliver senior rings, and to take orders for caps and gowns for those seniors who missed the previous order date.

If you took the PSAT test in October, you will receive your results on Wednesday, December 19 th at 7:00 a.m. in the LGI Room.  Please plan to attend this meeting with Mr. Sims and Mrs. DeRon.  If you cannot attend this meeting, you may pick up your results after December 19 th in the counselors' office.

This is a reminder to Key Club, if you signed up to supply treats for the Policeman and Firemen on “Hero Appreciation Day” tomorrow, please meet in C109 at 7 a.m. to deliver the goodies. If you have any questions, see Brett or Mrs. Singleton.

Members of the DECA chapter will be collecting any pennies, nickels or dimes that you care to donate to MDA during the lunch periods for the next 2 Fridays that we are in school. Thank you for your generosity!!

All students who may be interested in attending the George Washington University Summer Scholars Pre-College Program may pick up information in the counselors' office.  There is a 10-day mini course for grades 9 – 11 from June 22 – July 2, 2008 and a 6-week Pre-College Program for Rising Seniors from July 6 – August 15, 2008.

OIA will be conducting a food drive to feed 86 families through the Community Prayer Outreach Program. All students are asked to bring canned goods to the 1 st or 5 th period teachers from now until December 18 th .

Seniors: The Toyota Community Scholars program is a scholarship program for seniors focusing on academic excellence, being an effective leader, and actively participating in service within and outside the school setting.  Scholarships awarded will be valued at $10,000 or $20,000.  Applications may be picked up in the counselors' office and must be returned to the counselors' office by this Friday.

HOSA students will be selling ornaments to help abused and neglected children in Jefferson County . Students and teachers may purchase ornaments for 25 cents each or make a donation towards Child Protective Services (CPS).

Juniors & Seniors: Texas A & M University sponsors the Student Leaders of Tomorrow Conference to be held February 15 th – 17 th .  High school juniors and seniors travel to Texas A & M to gain the necessary experience to enrich their leadership skills through prominent speakers and participation in exciting programs as well as a first-hand experience at college life.  To apply, come by the counselors ' office and pick up a flyer.

Beginning January 11, 2008, all vehicles parked on school property will display an appropriate hang tag. Hang tags may be purchased for $2 in the CATE office located next to the cafeteria. You must attach a copy of your driver's license and proof of insurance to your application before a hang tag will be issued. Please see your student handbook and code of conduct for penalties related to parking violations.

Any student wishing to purchase a Team Esquivel T shirt can come by C105 to purchase one. The cost is $15.

Student Council will host a Silver Bell Ball on Friday, December 14 th from 8:30 – 11 p.m. in the cafeteria. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $5 per person. Group pictures will be taken at the following times: Freshmen 10 p.m.; sophomores 10:10 p.m.; juniors 10:20 p.m. and seniors 10:30 p.m.

Skills USA students will be collecting canned goods and spare change to prepare boxes of food for needy families. The class that collects the most food by December 18 th will be rewarded with a breakfast pizza party after Christmas break.
